Function and purpose
Custom field groups organise custom fields and assign them as a unit. Instead of adding each field individually, you create groups, add fields to them, and then assign the group to an article, category or module – all fields become available at once.
Use cases
- Structure: Group related fields such as address data, product information or social links.
- Reuse: Use the same field group across multiple articles or categories without recreating the fields.
- Efficiency: Save time assigning fields by selecting an entire group.
Important notes
- Order: Within a group you can set the order of fields.
- Distinction: Don’t confuse field groups with user groups, which control permissions.
- Maintenance: Give groups clear names so you can find them later.
