Function and Purpose
Set an article, module, or menu item to “Unpublished” when you want to prepare it, test it, or take it temporarily offline. The content remains in the backend and can be reactivated later.
Difference from Other Statuses
- Published: Content is visible on the frontend.
- Archived: Content is not part of the normal output but is available in the archive.
- Trash: Content is slated for deletion and can be permanently removed.
Important Notes
- Scheduled publishing: You can set a start and end date to change the status automatically.
- Backend visibility: Unpublished content remains findable in the backend and can be edited.
- Workflow: Unpublished content can be part of a workflow.
